Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts
In the fall of 1995, representatives of the Harris County Cypress Creek Branch Library, Museum of Fine Arts Houston, the Cypress Woodlands Junior Forum and the Friends of the Library collaborated in an unprecedented community effort to bring fine art exhibition to the young people, adult and senior adult residents of Spring in northwest Harris County. The facility is located at the heart of a civic and community center complex that houses the new Barbara Bush 30,000 square foot county library, a 63-acre park, an active community center through which some 120 nonprofit organizations offer cultural, educational, and social services, and a very busy County Courthouse Annex. Precinct 4 County Commissioner Jerry Eversole led Harris County to provide the original 10,000 square foot Cypress Creek Branch County Library for the exhibition of fine art by the Museum of Fine Arts Houston and other major arts institutions. The Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts opened to the public on March 29, 2009. Since that time, the museum has hosted three cycles of exhibitions, including: Frederic Remington and the American West, African Gold from the Glassell Collection, Metal Worked, State of Grace: 17th- and 18th-Century Paintings from the Blaffer Foundation Collection, and The Art of Glass. After since opening, the Pearl has exceeded 17,500 visitors, 6,000 of which have been school children. The museum offers a wide range of programming for all ages and knowledge levels.
The museum is located at 6815 Cypresswood Drive, Spring, TX Phone: 281 376 6322. Admission is free with a suggested donation of $5 per person. Invitations to some special events may require museum membership. The museum is open all days except for Mondays.
